Margaret Romero, our principal trumpet has been severely injured by a car while jogging on the sidewalk!
On Saturday afternoon, Margaret and her dog, Penny, were jogging in Concord on a sidewalk when a driver fell asleep at the wheel and drove straight into her..
The crash was about a mile from Margaret’s house. She was awake and called for help, but doesn't remember anything since she was in a concussion loop. Penny was not hit.
It’s going to be a really long recovery. Nose is broken, a concussion, face is beat up, pelvis was broken in several places, the ligament on the front of the pelvis was torn off, MCL and ACL are both torn and she is very bruised all over.
Her medical staff says she is lucky to be alive, given what happened. She’s trying to stay positive through months of recovery.

David Chick, our principal oboe, is undergoing major spinal surgery to correct long standing severe back and neck pain.
He has had the first of two surgical procedures and has already experienced considerably increased comfort.
Unfortunately the nature of his condition and the surgeries have made it necessary for him to take a break from playing the oboe.
